The work is still manual. The deadlines are still the same.
Most accounting work happens in a scramble before filing deadlines. Reconciliation is done on spreadsheets. Compliance issues are discovered at filing time, not when they occur. Advisory, if it exists at all, is a backward-looking afterthought. The work itself is largely rules-based and repetitive — but it’s still being done manually, the same way it was done twenty years ago.
Your clients expect more. Regulations are more complex. And your team can only do so much.
